Escapades
This was a day of escapades. I went with Nanay and Tatay to meet with Ate Aimee and Nice believing that we were going to clean Ate Aimee’s house in Malate. It turned out na natapos na nila ang cleaning kahapon at lakwatsa na pala ang order of the day today. We started with Gateway where Nice was going to meet with her uncle whom she hasn’t seen with about 2 years. Wahaha. =) First time kase ni Nice sa Manila so dapat well documented, hehe. Taga-Davao sya at bukas na siya uuwi. We had lunch at Italianni’s. Grabe, busog pare. Sarrrap! ^__^!
After resting for a while sa house nila Ate Aims, pumunta na kami sa Mall of Asia. Oo, first time ko. Well, it’s still SM pero a lot different from the regular SMs scattered all over the country. It’s parang for the masa but has very sosyal stores. Madaming kainan and may ice skating rink (na pinagmamalaki nilang first Olympic size ice skating rink in the country). Whatever. Anyway, nag-ice skating kami ni Nice. =) Oo, first time ko rin. Grabe ha, it really hurts to land on your fanny on cold, wet ice. Pero ok lang since we weren’t the only ones falling. Haha. We only fell thrice naman. Tawa kami ng tawa of course. I’m sure to show my bruises tomorrow pero sige lang, enjoy naman, part yun ng enjoyment.
When we were done ice skating, we went to watch the fireworks display. It was beautiful. =) Then we ate at Healthy Shabu-shabu. Huo e, first time ko man japon. Haha. Weird kase you get to cook your own soup or something. Bahala na, nabusog naman ako. It was quite delicious actually. Just kinda weird to be making your own soup in front of you. Nang matapos ang dinner, umuwi na kami.
Pero ang pinaka-exciting na part ng escapades namin today was what happened while we were ice skating. No, I did not meet a guy in the conventional sense, much to my dismay. But I did have an encounter with a guy – or should I say agi – on the ice. Hehe. Well, it was more of my fourth encounter with an emergency situation! Yey! Yey! Yey! =) *tint jumping and clapping hands* I’m happy because I didn’t feel helpless anymore!
I was watching this certain skater kase magaling sya. Tapos, there was this skater who came into my line of vision and he was skating too fast. He suddenly slipped on the ice and wham! he fell and hit his head on the floor. So kitang-kita ko yung nangyari dahil nga dun ako nakatingin. Grabe, I heard his head make contact with the ice from where I was standing. I was maybe three meters away from him. For a few seconds he just sat there, when suddenly blood could be seen on the pristine ice. Yung skater na pinapanood ko suddenly shouted for help and ako din naman nakisigaw for a second when I realized na med student nga pala ako! Wahahaha. So funny. =) Anyway, I was the first to reach this poor guy. Wow grabe, ang bright red ng blood nya and it was gushing from a cut on his forehead just above the eyebrow. As in duguan na yung mukha nya as well as the floor and he was moaning. So I put pressure on the wound at hindi na tumulo masyado yung dugo nya and nagsidatingan na yung ibang tao. We brought him out of the ice into one of the dressing rooms where he was attended to. Hindi na ako yung nag-bandage sa kanya, trabaho na yun ng medics dun at ako ay naghuhas ng kamay at bumalik sa mapayapang paglalaro sa yelo kasama si Nice.
Grabe yun. Nakakabuhay ng dugo. I was meant for this kind of job. It’s so exciting and ang sarap nung feeling na may nagagawa ka to help other people. I was reminded once again of the bearing my chosen profession has on other people’s lives. Hindi lang to isang simpleng profession na pampayaman lang or para lang sa prestige, it’s about helping the hurting, healing the sick and giving hope to the hopeless. Basta, masaya ako na tinawag Niya ako maging doktor. Salamat po Lord. Salamat po.
Opo, Tito M… I know. You’re right. As usual. Hehe. I’ll count on your prayers. *hug*
